An important update on Covid-19 and our stores

An update on the Covid-19 virus and our stores

Given the unprecedented situation in the UK regarding the COVID-19 virus we feel that it is important to reassure you that we are continuing to keep our practice clean and safe for both you and our team. We intend to keep the practices open for as long as possible to provide the service that is needed for our patients.

You will appreciate that as an optical practice we work in an environment where the prevention of the spread of a whole range of infections is woven into everything that we do. Nevertheless, we are paying particular attention the latest government guidance on the transmission of coronavirus.

All of the frames on display, the equipment we use and all surfaces are cleaned and disinfected regularly to keep the practice as sterile as needed and as often as needed.

Know the guidance

Before attending the practice for your next appointment, we would be grateful if you would review the most up to date government guidance – just click this link https://www/nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covd19/

Keep us in the loop

Please remember that we are open, as normal, and to call us on the practice telephone number or email us to let us know if you wish to reschedule any of your booked appointments. We would be happy to schedule an alternative date for you.

At your next appointment

Please forgive us if we don’t shake hands – but we are however happy to do the elbow bump – just ask!

You’ll notice that we’ve removed some non-essential items in the reception area including the magazines. They will return once this is all over!

As a team, we are doing everything we possibly can to remain fit, well and able to work so that we can continue to provide our usual high standard of dental care for you.

Thank you for your support in keeping everyone safe.

About us

Over two decades, the husband-and-wife duo Claudia and Bish Ashleigh and their expert team have become renowned for offering one of the most innovative and bespoke opticians services across Hampshire.

Ashleigh Sight Care has served the local Hampshire community since 1999, when Claudia opened the doors of our first practice in Southampton. As a pioneering optometrist, she had grown frustrated with the substandard services she observed in High Street chain opticians and, instead, set out to offer exceptional eye care by investing in the very best optical talent and technology.

She soon expanded the business to include a practice in Romsey and in 2009 she partnered up with her optometrist husband Bish, who brought two practices at Fair Oak and Portsmouth into the Ashleigh Sight Care fold. A fifth practice at Bishops Waltham joined the others in 2010 to complete the current group.

Founded on a core ethos of clinical excellence and not rushing patients, Ashleigh Sight Care has the accolade of being the first UK opticians practice to invest in the revolutionary Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) scanner in 2002. This dedication has continued to offer the latest optical services and the company is constantly on the look out for ways to innovate with pioneering technology.

The teams also pride themselves on their expertise – and all the optometrists and dispensing opticians are registered with the General Optical Council and bound by The Opticians Act to keep their registration in date with constant education and training. Claudia and Bish are also passionate about developing their academic prowess in the optometry field. Whilst studying at City University in London, Claudia developed a particular interest in contact lenses, and is now one of the few optometrists in the area to specialise in fitting multifocal contact lenses, including gas permeable lenses. Her work with multi-focal contact lenses was recognised by being awarded a Doctorate from London South Bank University in 2017 and is now considered to be an expert in this field. Bish completed his Masters degree in Clinical Ophthalmology, studying at the University of Manchester and researching Glaucoma at the City University, London in 2008. He is considered to be an expert in identifying the first symptoms of glaucoma and macular degeneration.

At Ashleigh Sight Care your vision is in good hands.
